NY Times, Caminos de Agua & water
Thanks to the passion of local advocates, supporters, university partners and other collaborators, The New York Times featured the challenges of our local water situation in Guanajuato, Mexico in an article today.
About a year ago, San Miguel de Allende-based photojournalist, Janet Jarman, contacted Caminos de Agua for story ideas to document climate change. We discussed our work and Janet spent a couple of days documenting Caminos' work in local communities with rainwater harvesting systems.
A few weeks ago, Janet contacted Dylan Terrell for an interview with her colleague - the Mexico New York Times coorespondent, Elisabeth Malkin. We are proud of the work Elisabeth and Janet are doing to shine a spotlight on complicated water realities- one that crosses borders.

The article features the Caminos de Agua water quality maps of the region and gives credit to Northern Illinois University and others involved in the well water testing, but it doesn´t mention the behind-the-scenes labor of creating the maps. That credit goes to Cameron Plese from Brandeis University who built the the entire platform with us during an internship last year.
